Word Wednesday by KM Wilsher

No crossword puzzles, vocabulary or word games, I don't have the mind to come up with those. On Word Wednesday I want to talk about what we are reading in the bible this week. It’s not a Bible study, sermon or deep devotional, just a place to reflect on a verse or passage that may have touched us this week.

Okay, maybe a word game. How about a Word game? I'm kind of stealing the idea from Avily Jerome. She presents word games on Wednesdays at * AvilyJerome.blogspot.com * and one of them is a lot like the one I'm going to post today. It's been fun, so I'd like to try it here --only with the Word of God and some other twists.
Here it goes:

1. Open your Bible and let it fall open to whatever page it happens to open to.
2. On the right hand side of the page, find the third paragraph and first verse.
3. Type the scripture in with your comments.

Does it speak to you? I bet any page we open to speaks to us; and all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching. I can't wait to see all of our posts together. Thank you in advance for playing!

I'll go first:
Psalm 25:15 My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.

WOW! I usually am such a skeptic when it comes to pulling random bible verses but, that was powerful! Yesterday I received news that changed my life, and this is so touching. Thank you, Lord!

Can't wait to see the yours. Hope someone has time to play :-)

I'm so excited to have influenced you! :)

Here's mine (since my Bible is KJV, there are no paragraphs--each verse is on its own, so I just did the third verse on the page):

Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.

So who is Anonymous and what is he/she testing?

Hehe...

Ok, my Bible is NLT and by following your directions, I find myself at Ezekiel 38:1, "This is another message that came to me from the LORD:" But I don't know what the message is! That's all - the next several veses reveal the message.

I'm w/ Avily. Who is Anonymous and what is he/she testing?

Influence you have sister/friend!

Tracy - yours is a mystery! What's the message. I gotta know. hee hee
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Oh, I wish I could take part...I'm out of town, shamefully forgot to grab my Bible, so I had planned to use the Bible online for tomorrow's quiet time. ...Can't very easily let my computer fall open to a page. Oh, wait: surely there's a Gideon Bible here. Okay, game on!

Psalm 118:9 (NKJV) It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
Hmm...this is timely to me as we see a changing of the guard in our political world. I have to remember to trust only in Him, not in earthly powers. Thanks for doing this, KM. It's great to share the Bible with each other.

And Avily, your verse is part of my favorite Bible passage. It was nice to be reminded of it.

Ohhhh, my Bible opened to Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

Ohhh, I'm so diggin' this verse. It's actually already underlined in my Bible. It's one I really like.

Reminds me of Nichole Nordeman's song, "Fool for You."

Came here by way of Lynn Rush's blog. Love yours, very nice. I'll stop often.

By the way, my verse:

"But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him." (Job 5:8)

And very relevant to what's on my mind today...

Alison, you are the cutest! Good old Gideons. They are at the community college every year handing out New Testaments to the young college students. Cutest guys about 60 or 70 handing out little green New Testaments to girls with their belly buttons showing and boys spewing cuss words everywhere. I adore the Gideons. I don't know much about their theology but, because of them, we have Bibles in hotels and at the community college! hee hee

You know, I was thinking today. I hear that Obama is going to be the one to really take Social Security away and that will affect me greatly. Then your verse. . . wow! Good verse, Alison. Thanks for finding that green bible in the night stand :)

Lynn I haven't heard Nichole's song. I'll have to look for it. But I like the verse. Blessed are we. . .I hope your day is full of blessings.

Billy! I'm honored Billy Coffey stopped by! I'll have to look up your blog! Job 5;8 is relevant here with me too. Thanks for your comments.

What a great time this is, thanks guys!

Mine was Romans 13: 10 If you love someone, you will never do him wrong; to love, then, is to obey the whole law.

That speaks volumes.

Cool idea. I'm glad Avily influenced you. :-)

behooMy Bible fell open to Deuteronomy and since its kind of in poetry format, without paragraphs I just did the 3rd verse which is Deut. 33:16:

Let the full earth give the best fruits, and let the Lord who lived in the burning bush be pleased. May these blessings rest on the head of Joseph on the forehead of the one who was blessed among his brothers.

I am very encouraged by this verse as it promises us the best fruits of the Lord and the blessings are rested on Joseph, who was separated from his land and people for so many years, but was extremely blessed by God. Very applicable to our situation down here in Mexico.

Thanks Kathleen--you are the best! Jenn
