BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER ~ Word Wednesday

BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER
WORD WEDNESDAY
by KM Wilsher

Revelation. Lots of encouragement in Revelation. Lots of encouragement to "overcome" and I need that right now, for sure. . .

To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.   Revelation 2:7

However, a friend of mine posted this verse on her Facebook a while back:

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. Ps.18:19

Something clicked inside of me when I read it. He delights in me? Me the sinner, the one who makes all these mistakes? The selfish girl, whose mind wanders all day?

Sure I try hard and most of the time, and every moment is lived for Him. I know he forgives me, but it goes further. He delights in me?

Of course, He does.

Suddenly I found myself in a "spacious place". My heart swelled and peace overtook my emotions. . .

What are you reading this week?

Stay tuned to BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER! Lots to do this summer 2010 :0)

BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER
SUMMER SONGS
by KM Wilsher

SUMMER SONGS: Memories of bare feet and the ice cream man. Hope for furture long days of summer. Songs for summer, from summer and about summer.

Journey. One of the greatest bands of all times.  Journey seems to cross all the genre lines. People love them no matter what their favorite music is. This song, with its hungry melody and haunting lyrics, brought many plays of the record LP: Escape by Journey.

Remember, Stone in Love?

What song is on your mind this summer?

IMAGINARY JESUS ~ CHRISTIAN SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY BLOG TOUR ~ Blog Days of Summer, by KM Wilsher

A moment ago, we hit Summer Solstice. If you were here last year, you know this is my favorite day of the year! It is the longest, the kick off for summer, the prequel to fall.
Summer Solstice kicks of BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER and what a way to blow the roof off a great summer with CHRISTIAN SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY BLOG TOUR featuring Matt Mikalatos' IMAGINARY JESUS.

It's a quest to find the real Jesus!
I haven't read this yet, but I hear it's Comi-con meets Star Wars.

DAYBREAKERS-CINEMA SOUND OFF with Lynn Rush and KM Wilsher

Welcome to Cinema Sound Off. We love movies!
My good friend and extraordinary writer, Lynn Rush
--and me, KM Wilsher-- visit the movies and we'll be sharing our reviews with you every second Tuesday of the month.

Click here for more information on Cinema Sound Off and the code to CSO's rating system.

DAYBREAKERS

KM's Review:

I must say, this was a little gory. . .in a MATRIX meets ANN RICE kind of portrait. I didn't enjoy the dark screen and hospital feel of the movie, but I found some enjoyable ingredients in DAYBREAKERS.

The premise:

With a very hip feel, vampires run this world of the future. Blood suckers out number humans who have become an endangered species.

As humans face extinction, vampires face a blood shortage. Undead scientists work diligently to find a blood substitute, for it won't be long before the last few humans and their precious blood are gone. . .Outstanding.

3 great themes:

1. Justice for the oppressed: Ethan Hawk's character has compassion for the oppressed humans to the point of denying himself their blood. With out human blood, Ethan Hawk's character will first turn into a hideous demon, and then the lack of blood will kill him. Despite this, he holds a deep concern for the humans and their plight.

2.Sacrifice. A couple characters in this movie are willing to give their very lives for the continuation of the human race.

Reminds me of my Savior:
(Though Jesus' Sacrifice goes way beyond life on earth.)
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

3. and this theme: Sometimes the thing that hurts the most could be the thing that cures and heals you. This theme moved me in a very powerful way. The vampires freedom comes at a very painful cost. Sometimes ours does too.

KM's score:

I wrestled with the score for DAYBREAKERS. There is an amazing idea behind this creation, however, I didn't feel that it came together. So I give DAYBREAKERS:

1 tickets Skip it. Give your ticket away

Stay tuned for the second Tuesday in July. Another hot summer movie to review!

Do you have a must see movie for the summer?
Have you seen Daybreakers? Got any thoughts?

Word Wednesday

Sometimes life is vacation by a lake. Family. Friends. Love.

Sometimes day to day is harder than chaos and crisis.

Get up early.
Work out.
Don't eat too much breakfast.
Did you pray? Read your bible?

Hurry out the door.
Don't let the road rage in the car next to/behind you get to you. Keep your peace and joy.

Don't be late to work.
Let that co-worker's attitude toward you slide off your back.
So what the boss doesn't like you. Keep positive.

Did you pray?

Eat dinner. Laundry.
Go to bed it starts again soon.
_____________________

The following got me through the past couple of days. I hope you are blessed by it too. What are you reading this week?

God is for you. Not “may be,” not “has been,” not “was,” not “would be,” but “God is!” He is for you. Today. At this hour. At this minute. As you read this sentence. No need to wait in line or come back tomorrow. He is with you. He could not be closer than he is at this second. His loyalty won’t increase if you are better nor lessen if you are worse. He is for you. ~Max Lucado

Revelations 3
11I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. 13He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Have a great week! I am in Oklahoma by a lake!
