First of all, I must give God thanks for AVILY JEROME and her husband, GNH. (If you have read "How I met your Father" by Avily Jerome you'll remember GNH) Avily's GNH graciously looked at that laptop I dropped and recovered ALL the files! They are a beautiful family who serve the Lord! Here is a shout out to you :)

On to Word Wednesday!
No crossword puzzles, vocabulary or word games, I don't really have a word game mind. (love Scrabble!) On Word Wednesday let's talk about what we are reading in the bible this week. It’s not a Bible study, sermon or deep devotional, just a place to reflect on a verse or passage that may have touched us recently.

Hebrews 3
16Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? 17And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? 18And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed[c]? 19So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.
Hebrews 4
1Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.

Faith and Belief. What weird words. Sometimes I think I know more about the meanings of the words 'Calorie', 'Emo' and 'Brangelina' than I do about the words Faith and Believe. I mean, how many times have you heard, "Just have Faith." or been asked, "Do you really believe that?"

Believe - To have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something.
Faith - Confidence or trust in a person or thing. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.

Okay, defining the words helped. Praise Jesus, the Way, Truth, and Light. I loved looking at their definitions. But how does one HAVE belief? Or how do you DO faith? I HAVE a job, a car, friends, and family. I DO sit-ups, an assignment, a chore. Is faith a thought? An action? Is belief feeling? I know, all of the above, right?

According to the Hebrew verses, I can hear the Word, but I need to "combine it with faith." And I see the Isrealites "were not able to enter, because of their unbelief." So I must pray to receive this Faith and Belief. I must not neglect it. I guess that's where the phrase, "practice faith" comes from. I guess its a little bit of thought, action, feeling, and lots of prayer!

I have much to be thankful for this week.
~*My friend, Lynn Rush, facilitated a writer's retreat and took me with her. ~*Grandma and Grandtom, in their 80's, are on a trip to Florida!
~*I won a limerick contest.
~*I received a 98% on a test in my law class.
~*My Granddad is doing well, despite being 91 and just out of the hospital.
~*A girl hit me today -- her Civic ramming the back of my Explorer as I went through an intersection -- we both are physically okay!
~*During a recession I received a new position at work.
~*My Dad called me :)

So, Word Wednesday is just Praise to the Author of life and LOVE. My knight in Shining Armor, Jesus Christ.

Sing a new song to the Lord,
for He has done wonderful deeds.
He has won a mighty victory
by His power and holiness.

Writer's Retreat Sedona, Arizona KM Wilsher

I attended my first WRITER'S RETREAT this weekend in Sedona, Arizona. Thanks to the brilliant mind and hospitality of LYNN RUSH (check out her wonderful, interactive blog) We went up Friday and came back Sunday. Our only goal to write, write, write.

Well, I finished my short story COBRA CUTLASS that I am going to send to ROGUE BLADE for their contest: Open Submissions: Demons: A Clash of Steel Anthology, shaved it down to 5950 words and **dropped my computer!** My flash drive smashed into a million peices and the computer is dead. I lost my short story and a lot of my WIP REMNANTS. Can you believe it?
Lynn wrote like 20,000 words or so. . .I'm so happy for her! The trip was great anyway. A great hike and as you can see the scenery beautiful. (The pics are of my view from every window of the house!) God is good and I feel blessed to have been a part of the weekend. I'm praying they can recover stuff from the hard drive.

Phantasmagorical Freek Friday by KM Wilsher

Hey metal/goth/alternative/hard rock fans! Phantasmagorical Freek Friday is all about musicians, groups, and songs glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ in this genre.

PFF! Have you missed it? I have. And now: SKILLET

What I like about Skillet is their eclectic variety of instruments. Of course, they stay true to the metal/alternative sound that I adore, but they add a measure of melody and stringed instruments that move my heart. Their lyrics --and what I’ve heard of their lifestyles-- are consistent with Christian values and; therefore, I am proud to support them and to recommend them to anyone I come in contact with.

There is another factor that endears me to Skillet–Lori Peters. . .the female drummer!!! As I look through Skillet media I see she’s left the band; but Jen Ledger replaced her in 2008, so there is still a female drummer! (I play -therefore I am a fan)

A youth pastor encouraged the founding members to form this band. Their name? Here is what I found on wikipedia: Coming from different styles of rock music, the two decided to name the band Skillet, since it was like "throwing it all in a Skillet, and see what you come up with". And I love what they are cookin' up!
My favorite song to date by this Jesus freak quartet is: Savior

The video is not so special. Not bad. But not sick. I have a whole very, very hot video in my head for this track. . .they haven’t asked me for it yet. :)

Upon the birth of the idea of Phantasmagorical Freek Friday, I knew I'd showcase this rockin' bunch. I've held off too long to give Skillet a gzusfreek center stage. Skillet is one of my top two fav bands.
