MOVIE MONDAY the HOLIDAY SERIES

October the month for bloodcurdling screams and the bizarre
Movie Monday on the Holiday Series
HALLOWEEN WEEK

What movie chilled you to the bones? Turned your world upside down? Had you hanging on for dear life? Did you approach it on purpose?

The house of my youth had a ginormous lower level.

(gi•nor•mous Pronunciation: \jī-ˈnȯr-məs\
Function: adjective Etymology: gigantic + enormous
Date: circa 1948 : extremely large : HUMONGOUS)

It was easy to sneak down the stairs while everyone lay sleeping. One night, on the small television sitting near the sliding glass door, my cousins tuned into THE EXORCIST. We were 10-12 years old. I imagine we didn’t watch the whole thing, but it scared me senseless. I had nightmares for years. It is hands down the scariest thing I have ever seen.

What about you? Share with us the most terrifying movie you have ever seen?

At the age of 14 I saw Nightmare on Elm Street for the first--and LAST--time. I had Freddie nightmares for a month. I can deal with scary, creepy, disturbing, but not slasher.

Despite my fear of all things zombie-related, I gotta go with Alien here. I watched it twice this weekend and barely slept. I think it's the mouth inside the mouth. GAA!

I don't watch scary movies... adrenaline rushes hurt - I hate that feeling. :-) Lost Boys and Silence of the Lambs were favorites in high school... I like creepy and mentally wigged out... but not slasher or ewie gooie kinds. This Halloween I will probably get as scary as... This Is It (Michael Jackson)... haha. :-) You all enjoy your terrifying visuals. :-)

Lori, loved Lost Boys. One of my favs - it was a little scary. Even more so than Twilight!

Scary movies don't really freak me out anymore. I can watch them with my brother and laugh. When I was little things were totally different.

I'd have to say the scariest movie ever for me was Frequency, which I watched when I was really little... I hate movies with Serial Killers. Nowadays I can watch the first half of that movie and enjoy it, but the second half makes my gut drop. Ugh. Otherwise stuff with demon posession (like the exorcist) freaks me out... till I remember God's already conquered darkness. Aliens don't really scare me. They make me giggle. Really, it's the unexpected stuff in movies that scares the willies out of me. Like Bilbo's eyes in the Fellowship of the Ring. lol

Nice post!
