Here's my bimonthly musician review. Taking advice from wise counsel, I want to shorten my posts. So let me know how I do.
Hey metal, goth, alternative, hard rock fans! PFF is about musicians, groups, and songs glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ.
FLYLEAF. I've been pretty hard on them in the past. Stating that they did not have a strong enough position on their faith. Well, my foot is in my mouth. Take a look at this interview:
Flyleaf interview
I'm rendered speechless. Please accept my apology FLYLEAF - fight the good fight! Keep on letting the Spirit lead your music.
They also did a tribute to Cassie Bernall a girl close to my heart. She died in the Columbine massacre. Ten years later, a newspaper article from the day after Columbine still hangs on my wall.
Cassie went to the Columbine High School library to study on April 20, 1999. Later, a member of the Trenchcoat Mafia pointed his gun at her and asked: "Do you believe in God?"
"Yes, I believe in God," she said.
"Why?" the gunman asked. But he did not wait for an answer. He shot Cassie Bernall dead.
Again, FLYLEAF, I used to love your music, now I also pray for your strength and perseverance as you live your lives for Jesus. As you tour with, and open for -- bands like: Seether, Korn, and Evanescence -- I pray a protective hedge around you.
Hey readers, check these guys out. Especially if you like Evanescence, try FLYLEAF.
If you like heavy try:
I’m so sick

I really do like Flyleaf. There's something powerful about a strong female vocal. The tribute song to Cassie is very powerful...
My friend introduced me to them at work, and I realized that one of their songs was a favorite of mine played on the local Christian radio station...the song called "You Decide."
I'll have to look that one up. I haven't heard it. I sure didn't like some of their statements of faith, but I'm glad I researched some more.
I wanted to tell you that I sure enjoy Josh Garrels too. Thanks for introducing me.
I've been looking at some of your "kindred spirits" too. I've found a few very interesting.
Thanks for your comments, Brandon.
Were some of the earlier statements of faith vague? or were they kind of all embracing and new agey?
OH, whoops... I just realized I mixed up flyleaf and Fireflight! haha.
Fireflight has the song "you decide"
I wondered! I was looking for You Decide and came up with Fireflight. I'll have to check them out too. LOL
Flyleaf used the statement "We're musicians, not Christian musicians. We happen to be Christian, but you don't call a plumber who is Christian a 'Christian Plumber' - I thought it was a cop out, however, this interview made me change my mind. (can click on FLYLEAF INTERVIEW in the post) They do speak out and lots of kids are "reading the bible" and really bonding with the bandmembers because of Christ and their testimonies on their MySpace page.
So I will let up on them and wish them the very best!
Wow, I'd never heard of Flyleaf....I listened to that interview. WOW! WOW! WOW!!
Flyleaf is awesome :) My hubby and I like them a lot.
Lynn - that's how I felt when I watched it! I'm glad you stopped by.
Aubry - Flyleaf is awesome! I know you appreciate good music! How is school going?
Brandon, I just heard a piece of "You Decide" by Firefligt. . .
I loved it! thx
I've been pretty hard on them in the past. Stating that they did not have a strong enough position on their faith.
I've learned from so many past experiences not to judge another's faith because, like you, I usually end up tasting my own soul... er...no...that would be sole. :-)
This is good stuff.
Kat, hee hee Yep. I want to be very careful in which bands I "promote" here, but: "How does a fan really know the hearts of the artists they follow?"
I'm never afraid to say - "oops! I was wrong."
Thanks for your comments!
I'm glad you found Fire flight! It's amazing how many talented Christian musicians are floating around, just out of sight! And I'm glad you found Josh Garrels! Barely anyone knows who he is, and yet I find his music so God inspired, and so durn good!
