BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER by KM Wilsher

BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER: Summer Songs
Looking back at favorite songs from summers gone by. . .

Michael Jackson: Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough July 1779 (click to play the you tube video)

This song touched me back in the day. I wasn't the biggest Michael Jackson fan, but this song helped shape my young heart's love for music and dance.

The disco age. At the summer National Youth's Sports Program I took disco dance and could not get enough of this song!

May the Lord bless and keep you.

And, on this Summer Songs' post, let's not forget the Jacksons and the families of:

Farrah
and Ed
You all are in our prayers.

What's your favorite MJ song? Line from Charlie's Angels? Tonight Show funny?

BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER: BACK COVER BLURBS
Part two from yesterday. HERE IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING for!
SUMMARY FOR:
Light of Truth by Lynn Rush

Demons, known as Azazels, stalk a sleepy city attacking the innocent. No one suspects the dark secrets behind the mysterious deaths.
There is one who can stop them – the Protector – but lost to a world of drugs and alcohol after her father’s untimely death, eighteen-year-old Shelby Daniels is oblivious to her calling and her powers.
After a mysterious stranger waltzes into her life and saves her from two demon attacks, Shelby embraces her supernatural gifts. As she grows into the role of Protector, romantic feelings for Gabe, hidden deep within her, awaken.
But Shelby’s newfound faith is threatened when an Azazel brutally murders someone close to her.

Lynn is a powerhouse, a great mentor and example to me. This girl can sit down and write 25,000 words or more in a day or two. I adore this sister in Christ and am so grateful God hooked us up! Make sure and visit her at lynnrush.wordpress.com.
Lynn Rush writes fiction with a robust element of Faith. I love her heroines because they are energetic and hip. Her supernatural/paranormal romance stories are believable and smart. Lynn Rush has several manuscripts on her digital bookcase, but for the first spotlighted series, I chose her first.
Light of Truth by Lynn Rush
I’ve pursued LIGHT OF TRUTH by Lynn Rush, and I am a fan! This is better than Twilight on steroids, and I can’t wait to see it in print.

( And Lauryn Abbott won a prize this time. Tune in next week to win yours! )

BACK COVER BLURBS
_________________________________
I’m studying “back cover blurbs” and short one line synopses. The goal of this research started out egocentric really. I needed to know all I could about good summaries for back covers, because I want an outstanding back cover blurb for my work in progress.
As I thumbed through great synopses written by both published and unpublished writers, I realized I knew some pretty awesome writers. Thus the idea for this series was born. Why not share these great writers with everyone? Why not dive into conversations with the great writers I know and soak in the knowledge!

The first writer in the spotlight is: Lynn Rush

Superpowers? Good one, God. That’s funny.

Shelby hates God, but when He gives her supernatural powers to protect the people of her town from demons, she must decide once and for all whom she serves.

Blog Days of Summer: Father's Day by KM Wilsher

Loved the 1970s :)
Happy Father’s Day to you and your all your loved ones!

What a great day to begin BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER with Dad.

I always remember Dad saying things like:

Chase him until he catches you :)

and

Guess what?
What Dad?
I love you!

and

Turn your head!
( no, I wasn't coughing, my long brown hair got caught in the blender )

My Dad is a great man of Faith and a servant to all. Since retiring from Education he has spent his days helping others in the Name of Jesus. He and his wife spent a year in Africa helping educate children and spreading the gospel. He now spends his days volunteering ~ and when he’s not, he is spoiling his grandkids!

I am very proud of him and proud to be his daughter.
Happy Father’s Day, Daddy!

And thus begins:

Word Wednesday by KM Wilsher

This will be the last Word Wednesday until September. Regular posts will be put on hold for BLOG DAYS OF SUMMER, KM Wilsher's Summer 2009 Series. I am excited for summer and the summer series, but will miss some of the regular posts.

No crossword puzzles, vocabulary or word games, but on Word Wednesday I want to talk about what we are reading in the bible this week. It’s not a Bible study, sermon or deep devotional, just a place to reflect on a verse or passage that may have touched us this week.

I am reading in Revelation this week and there is much encouragement there. Lots of encouragement to "overcome" and I need that right now, for sure. However, I was parked at my friend Ashley Weaver's facebook page yesterday, and she had this verse on her profile:

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. Ps.18:19

Something clicked inside of me when I read it. He delights in me? Me the sinner, the one who makes all these mistakes and seems to have such an unmanageable life? Of course, he does.

Suddenly I found myself in a "spacious place". My heart swelled and peace overtook my emotions. . .

What are you reading this week?

Word Wednesday by KM Wilsher

No crossword puzzles, vocabulary or word games, but on Word Wednesday I want to talk about what we are reading in the bible this week. It’s not a Bible study, sermon or deep devotional, just a place to reflect on a verse or passage that may have touched us this week.

Sometimes day to day is harder than chaos and crisis.

Day in a recent life.

Get up early.
Work out.
Don't eat too much breakfast.
Did you pray? Read your bible?
Hurry out the door.
Don't let the road rage in the car next to/behind you get to you. Keep your peace and joy.

Don't be late to work.
Let that co-worker's attitude toward you slide off your back.
So what the boss doesn't like you. Keep positive.
Okay, so you didn't get lunch 'til 3pm - okay - make sure you don't over eat even though you are really hungry.
Did you pray?
I know there's a line of customers angry over the fact that it's taking so long -- and your coworkers are angry you are taking so long --
take your time and do it right. Remember what happened last week.
It's okay that you are at work an extra hour, again.

So the traffic is backed up for miles. Be calm.
Don't eat too much for dinner.
1 hour for writing. homework. laundry. clean. email. blog. read. call family and friends.
Pray. Meditate. Bible study.
Go to bed it starts again soon.

The following got me through the past couple of days. I hope you are blessed by it too. What are you reading this week?

God is for you. Not “may be,” not “has been,” not “was,” not “would be,” but “God is!” He is for you. Today. At this hour. At this minute. As you read this sentence. No need to wait in line or come back tomorrow. He is with you. He could not be closer than he is at this second. His loyalty won’t increase if you are better nor lessen if you are worse. He is for you. ~Max Lucado

Revelations 3
11I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. 13He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Phantasmagorical Freek Friday by KM Wilsher

PFF was designed to showcase metal/goth/alternative/hard rock artists who give Jesus Christ glory.

So there he was -- JOSH BROWN -- shooting up cocaine all day and leading his then band: FULL DEVIL JACKET onto the stage at night. In the late 1990’s JOSH BROWN possessed a measure of success. FULL DEVIL JACKET opened for bands like Creed and Train. But the party - the drugs began to own him. The drugs became a god as Josh lived in rebellion; and after a while he came to believe that the true God was just mad at him, and would never forgive him for the rock star lifestyle he lived.

In 2000 Josh Brown almost died of a heroin overdose. However, through rehab and his wife's loving family (who are strong believers in the Gospel), Josh turned his life over to Jesus Christ and truly began to follow Him. Josh then formed a new band: DAY OF FIRE, and they are using their talents to glorify God and pass the truth of His love along.

DAY OF FIRE. What a name. I read that Josh Brown’s conversion felt much like the Day of Pentecost when tongues of fire appeared dancing above the apostles’ heads as the Holy Spirit poured out. Josh may not have seen flames, but he termed his “come to Jesus” moment a “Day of Fire”. Great name! Great testimony!

I really don't want to skip over this. Rock "legends" like Jim Morrison and Curt Cobain died at the bloody hands of drug addiction. Many do not get a second chance after an overdose, and if they do, most don't take it. Josh Brown did not die that fearful day he overdosed on heroin; and he seized that second chance, letting Jesus come in and change and mold him. Thank you, Jesus.

Day of Fire has some amazing stuff out. Of course, I like the heavy

I have heard so much in my Bible study recently to meditate on, and memorize verses. I guess it is not new. I mean that is what we did in Sunday School, right? Well, yesterday I someone said to start with just a couple, so here are mine:

James 4:7
Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
Revelation 2:7
'Let everyone listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To everyone who conquers I will give the privilege of eating from the tree of life that is in God's paradise.'"

Do you have verses important to you? That you meditate on regularly?

Aunt Alice by KM Wilsher

Aunt Alice passed away Monday November 3, 2008 very early in the morning. It took me a little while to be able to write about it.

Alice was named after her mother. Of four siblings, she was the last to join them in heaven. Alice’s youngest sister was my grandma, June. I loved Alice. As a child, we visited her and Uncle Mitch in Roswell, New Mexico; and all I remember was love, peace and joy. I am trying not to regret that our relationship in the past few years has been through an annual Christmas letter.

I have not lost many in this lifetime. My grandma June died when I was still in sixth grade and it was very, very traumatic for my sister and me. I still had nightmares and panic attacks in seventh grade over it. I will miss you, Grandma June, until that Day.

My family was not rich in treasure, but very rich in love and faith. My childhood family get togethers were a smorgasbord of love, joy, charity, and faith. We got together every holiday and many other times throughout the year. My Grandad, Aunt Alice’s brother-in-law, was a preacher. He planted four Churches -- that I can remember -- with his own two hands, he even assisted with most of the building construction. I know we were at each Church dedication, as a family. These are memories that keep me going sometimes. They tell me that heaven is wonderful. It must be, if times such as these happen on earth, what great joy we will find in heaven.

Alice, June, Hattie, and Gene did not grow up rich. They were some of the first settlers in Oklahoma and New Mexico. Their parents traveled a great distant to give them a home, a hope, and a future. They lived in harmony with, intermixed and intermarried with the Native Americans, the true people of our great land.

I don’t know much more about her. I know she is a fiber of my being and that she was truly important to me. I am not a scrapbook bunny. I don’t collect pictures or news clippings. I am a writer. I collect stories. Aunt Alice, this is for you. And yet, I am not done. I will find more of your stories. I will not rest until they are written. I promise you, I will pass on to the next generation, your legacy of Faith, hope, love, joy, peace and charity.

I love you. I’ll see when I get there.
